Caffè del Doge is a precious microcosm of the most authentic Italian tradition. Located in the heart of the historical center of Venice, a stone’s throw from the Rialto Bridge, it jealously conserves the most guarded secrets of the antique art of coffee roasting, the way it was handed over for generations by its founder Ermenegildo Rizzardini, who, from the early 1950s concentrated all of his passion into the development of this cottage industry, among the most celebrated in Venice.
In 2001 Caffè del Doge's production activity was moved to a new plant in Padova, in order to satisfy precise structural needs and production.
Today the roasting plant in Due Carrare is equipped with a cutting edge system of roasting that utilizes the same method present in Venice: our blends are lightly roasted following the traditional method of cold blending, the "Venetian Style."
The Arabica cultivars of "The Seasonal Coffees" represent the synthesis of our research towards specific geographic areas, where climate, soil, and the cultivation methods allowed for a grand production of Arabica coffee adapted to the big personality of espresso.
Caffè del Doge exports to 26 countries all over the world and this export business comprises 40% of the company's total business.
